The Life Cycle of a Cheetah

I.A.L.T: write an explanation on the life cycle of an animal of my choice.

Today I am going to explain the life cycle of a cheetah. Cheetahs are part of the cat family and they are very big and very fast. All cheetahs live in Africa. So let’s see how a cheetah is brought up to learn about the wild world around them.

Firstly the mother cheetah waits 90-95 days until she has her cubs (name for a baby cheetah). The mother can have a litter of 3-5 cubs at a time. The cubs’ eyes open when they are 2 months old and then 2 months after that they start to to take their first steps.

Then at 6 months old the cubs stop drinking the mother’s milk. The mum then starts teaching them to hunt and fend for themselves. When the cubs reaches 18 months the mum leaves the cubs and the cubs stay together for another year. Then when they all reach 2 years old the females cubs leave the males. Once the females leave them the males stay together forever. So then the cycle starts again.

The reason this is an important explanation is because cheetahs are the closest animals to extinction out of all the cats in Africa. This is because of humans who want to make money by selling the skin of the cheetah and because there are people who have a terrible sense in style and wear the cheetah’s skin. So if you can, help these beautiful creatures.

Roll and Answer

Today in maths we played a game called Roll an Answer. It tests the skills we have learned this year like rounding, place value, addition and subtraction. My group did a board about adding large numbers.

Healthy Eating

In topic we learnt all about the digestive system and about keeping healthy in our food and exercise. We got an activity about putting the correct body parts in the correct places. This is mine. I have put the brain in the head, the heart in the chest, the lungs in the chest, the stomach in the middle of the tummy, the kidneys below the stomach, the small intestines below the kidneys and the large intestines around the small intestines.

Diary Entry

In room 5 my reading group was looking at books about the war and did a bit of research on the war. We had to write a diary entry from the perspective of a soldier in the war.

Sunday 10th January 1916

Dear diary,

I feel like the war will never end. Today my chap got hit by a bomb shell and has been taken away by a nurse, but I haven’t seen him since this morning. I miss my family. I got a telegram from my wife saying she had a baby and called him Arthur. I have been trying to fight as much as I can,but it is hard watching people get shot and taken away. I found a man in a pit with a shot leg. He was a German but I didn’t care he was tired and hurt.So I decided to help him out of the pit and bandage up his wound. He hopped away and turned around and smiled at me. I think this made both our days. At the end of the day we were all tired and I felt like a dog in a kennel chained to the wall.
